My Two-Wheeler Saga.

||4 wheels move the body, Two wheels Move the soul||

On the occasion of my 2nd anniversary of my Motor-cycle, I am writing a couple of lines because i cannot stay without my bike, and hopefully my bike cannot without me!

On 22nd of February 2015, I was handed over the keys of my motor-cycle Honda CB Trigger and today we are completing two years together which is quite an occasion for me given the ups and down we have been through.(Wont discuss the negatives today).

We as a family were not having a vehicle for a long time, the last we had was our Maruti 800 which was sold off in 2013 December. Now a vehicle is a necessity more than a need and that I had realized a  long time ago.

I had started working in may 2015 and by December I had surplus savings. Now when you have that kind of money with you, you start analyzing your needs and requirements in detail. A vehicle was my need since I used to borrow my friends Nimesh and Manish’s bike/scooter to go around sometimes.

Also when you dont have your own vehicle but know to ride everything, you are in bad books of people as they consider you freeloaders( Or phuktya in marathi which i prefer.) I realized it 2 years down the line after having my own motor-cycle, I see such people around me all the time.

So the bottom line was, I needed a vehicle! The question is which type and which make/model?

Selection process. (going through the options)

I had learnt to drive a 4 wheeler vehicle before a two wheeler motor cycle with gear(Activa is a scooter with a motor so I dont consider it something difficult to learn, although I rode an activa when i was 15 years of age.) Now this is highly unlikely because usually its the other way round, People usually learn the motor cycle first and then cars.

So naturally my first option was to check out a new 4 wheeler in my budget and the only one fitting in it was the Tata Nano. A 600 cc 4 wheeler with a good ground clearance and space inside for tall people like me( My Friends and cousins consider me short.)

Also, I had to take a small loan for the same from my parents, which was more or less defeating the purpose of my self sufficiency, and then there comes a question of maintenance and petrol, when there is a car in question and you in middle class category, you cannot freely take a car for a spin anytime you want. There are expenses and raised eyebrows when you think of doing that. In cases of motorcycle, It doesnt matter that much. At a maximum, you can only end up blowing one litre of petrol at one casual stroll which doesnt cost a bomb.

After Nano was a BIG Nono, we turned our eyes towards the two wheeler category which is a hot one in automobile sector. We started considering the first and the best option that almost every household/individual/company considers when they think of buying a two wheeler, the Honda Activa.

A 110cc engine with lots of of space to carry luggage and a compartment to store helmet, as well as very easy to ride and costs a little over rupees 60,000. I wanted to buy this one since dad had it earlier and he liked a scooter.

But he told me that since it was my first motor cycle, i should go for a geared one. Activa is automatic and doesnt require much of an effort. Once you ride and get used to it before a geared motorcycle, you will not be able to ride a geared one ever. You become kind of complacent towards a geared one.

I knew how to ride both, a geared and an automatic but what he said to me made sense. Also a geared motorcycle will have better comfort levels for a long ride and better suspensions which will save your back.

Suzuki had launched a new geared motorcycle named Gixxer which was a pretty sporty looking model with twin nosed exhaust, although a single unit. We also had a test ride for the same but the rear seat was kinda very small for the pillion comfort. Also dad quoted that “You on this bike look like a horse riding a donkey”. That compliment was enough for me to drop the idea.

That was it, we started looking at other alternatives, Honda Unicorn is another two wheeler which is a best seller, motorcycle dealer have become filthy rich selling honda activas and unicorns. But the problem with this bike is, it still has analogue speedometer and one trip meter. An outdated model but still stands to be a best seller.

We did consider going for Royal Enfield classic 350 a.k.a The Bullet, but its an over-hyped vehicle with pathetic quality and after sales service. It reminds me of the Blackberry smartphones which weren’t smart enough as well as over priced useless devices.

The selection process started from December 2014 till February 2015.

Final Decision.

We locked our choice to Honda CB trigger which had disc breaks for both the wheels, comfortable seating posture and a 150 cc engine. It is a commuter bike and be called to be the first cousin of Honda Unicorn.

Honda Trigger was a forever attempt of Honda to replace CB unicorn model with an updated vehicle, they launched Unicorn Dazzler which failed, then they launched CB trigger which kinda failed as well and finally they launched a 160 cc engined model of unicorn which failed pathetically as well. The CB unicorn is a tried and tested model over past decade and people love it.

CB trigger which i booked on February 2015 in pearl red colour is quite a muscular looking slight sporty bike. After giving it much of a thought i went for it.

I got the delivery of this bike in a week and I was quite happy riding it around. It was quite an attention catcher and people used to ask me about my bike as they were curious.

Currently I have ridden my bike for a good 17,000 kilometers and it still is a pleasure riding as well as sitting as a pillion.

The feeling of owning a vehicle is a great one. If you are using one of your parents vehicle. You do not have to ask for permission to go anywhere, You can have it at your own disposal any time.

Also you do not require to ask anyone for the same and a two wheeler now I feel is a must for every household. It makes life easy, saves a lot of time and a hell lot of money. You do not have to depend on auto rickshaws or wait for the bus.

When I got the Bike, My main motive was to complete as much kilometers as possible. You must be thinking that is the stupidest thing to do, you are using it too much which would result in quick wear and tear. If not this, then you must be agreeing to the fact that covering as much distance as possible is a good thing to do.

I will point out both the possibilities for you and make things easier to understand starting with the latter possibility first.

I had seen Nimesh using his bike to the maximum and he ended up covering 30,000 kilometres in 2 years wandering around everywhere from Panvel to pune in the South,Asangaon and Igatpuri to the east and Dahanu in the north, all on his motorcycle.

While other people thought it was insane to go on such long rides on a bike, i was always around people who loved biking and covered that distances. I know people who have gone to Daman on activa from Mumbai. One of my friends has been to Goa on bike which is quite a task to even think of such a crazy idea. But people do it and this is the age to do it.

So to make myself accustomed to long distance rides, I started with giving lifts or pick up drop services to a few friends staying at charkop as well as at Panvel. The novelty of a new toy did boost my enthusiasm to do such things, Touching Panvel and coming back in an evening, Thats just 120 Kilometres in a matter of couple hours. This was the latter possibility of covering as much distance as possible and getting accustomed to biking.

Just like the kid who demands for painting kit and aspires to become a great painter one day.

The former possibility of me being foolish of Abusing my vehicle for no good reason by travelling insanely on my bike, well I have seen people doing that. You keep riding it and pay very less attention towards its maintenance. The bike is bound to be abused and screwed up. As for me, I had a job and a steady income when i bought the bike. I used to fill my tank up to the tank lock once every 20 days and acted like a gypsy.

After I quit my job, I could not keep asking for fuel allowance every now and then from my folks, so My biking was reduced considerably. Also I lost the novelty of going around on a bike, especially long distances.

I think a car is a better way to go in a group and comfortably although its an expensive affair.

A motorcycle is the best option to roam around in Mumbai quickly, And I use it for the same currently. So the usage is now at optimum.

Also learning different routes was a hobby for me, Not that its important for you to learn the routes after the arrival of google maps but it still helps.

The photos attached below are from Virar. Yes, I have taken my bike to my college in virar as well .

After 2 and a half years, when I look at the motorcycle market, I cannot find a perfect replacement for my current bike. One hell of a kind and I am in a serious relationship with it. During the purchase, I told to myself that I am going to use this bike just for two years and then replace it with a new one. But now I cannot even If I can, You tend to become materialistic towards such things which I feel is a good thing and only a person who owns a vehicle will understand what it is like. I thought I would be freely able to lend my bike to anyone who asks for it since I have borrowed bikes from my friends in the past. But now I find it quite difficult to lend it and I do it out of past obligations.

“Today you are sharing your vehicles, tomorrow you will share your wives amongst yourselves- Mom”.

She can be crude and pathetic at times, but I kinda agree now with her. You cannot expect your Book, your Vehicle, and your spouse to return to you in its original condition ever after being borrowed by someone, Even if it is in its original condition, it will always be in your head that some setting or adjustment that you had made has been changed.

Thankyou for spending your valuable time in reading my post, I look forward to keep my blog updated on regular basis.

P.S: I have delayed this post by 5 and a half months, it requires real patience to sit and write something.

The Gymkhana Problem.

Man is by nature a social animal; an individual who is unsocial naturally and not accidentally is either beneath our notice or more than human. Society is something that precedes the individual.” Man cannot live alone.

Gymkhana (Global): A public place with facilities for Sports.

Gymkhana (India): A gentleman’s club for leisure.

During the British rule, The English had started a concept called Gymkhana or a gentleman’s club where people from the rich families would gather over drinks and sports. This tradition carried on even after Indian independence for social gatherings amongst the elites.

This is the reason why there are so many gymkhanas in South Bombay, namely The wodehouse, Bombay, Islam, Police,Jvpd etc. Some gymkhanas are simply called clubs or sports clubs, The most famous that I know is the Goregaon sports club. People do often wonder what exactly happens in a gymkhana and I’ll tell you all about it to the best of my knowledge.

My father was always keen about being a member of a Gymkhana, Khar gymkhana being his favorite where you get to meet new and elite people, there are drinks and functions which you get to attend. There are all sorts of meal meats, the tea meeting, lunch buffet, dinner buffet etc. He got a life membership for our family at the malad gymkhana around 16 years ago, and to be honest, I still hate that place because it hasn’t developed much in all these years.  The question is why do people want to do such a thing? The simple answer is the quote mentioned right at the beginning of this post.

The other reason is it is best to know new people for business prospects and suitable marriage proposals. When I say that these clubs are meant for the rich and elite of the society, there is definitely an exorbitant price to get an entry to this clubs. They have schemes for yearly membership as well as life memberships.

To explain the pricing more clearly, I will speak about the price rates for the Goregaon sports club which is a Gymkhana. Now GSC offers life membership for a couple with children (maximum 2) below 18 years for rupees 11 lakhs + 14.50% service tax. Yearly membership for the same is around rupees 1 lakh with service charge.

What is included in this price? Just the entry to the club, swimming pool , restaurants, sports bars. You can  avail indoor and outdoor activities for a discounted price( 50%) as compared to the Exorbitant, isnt it? Yes it is! A membership to a  gymnasium with a swimming pool and steam sauna facility is priced at 15k per year. You might even end up getting a discount for 2 people.

The Problem

Dad got the membership for our family at a ‘not so good’ gymkhana in Malad for rupees 33,000 around 16 years ago. I was under 18 at that time so even i was included. Back then only the card room of the gymkhana was fully functional, then came in the gymnasium with some basic equipment and the table tennis gear which i really liked.

In 2-3 years after getting the membership, the fad faded and we forgot that we were members of a gymkhana, no body amongst us went there because it was just a building with a restaurant, card room and a gym.

5 years ago, when I had just turned 18, we had inquired about the membership charges for me and they said that i had to pay just 15k for becoming a life member, which i felt too much at that time and we delayed the process ( usual business for us, and I wasnt interested.) What would I do there? I dont go to places where my friends cant join me and I have no interest in making new ones.

A couple of days ago, there was this extra-ordinary meeting held by the gymkhana where there was some music, drinks and dinner. Mom and dad were invited being the members and for the fact that dad had recently joined their gym. Also Dad was keen to know the price for getting me in as an adult. I was coming back home from an overnight party out-station and dad called me to get directly at the gymkhana for the party.

I went there, had a good time there (for different reasons which i cant discuss here.) We came back home an hour before midnight and at this time i learned that my membership is going to cost us rupees 75,000/-.

Here is the problem. Is it worth paying 75,000 rupees for myself and my upcoming family? Will I have an upcoming family? If I do I have, why would I require a club for social gatherings? I have my friends circle for the same and I have always imagined of us being together. There are many questions that are circling my head and even mom feels if its worth, but dad is headstrong about getting me in.

I had thought it this way, I could get a membership and hit the gymnasium with dad. All these years i wished for a swimming pool at the gymnasium since that an outdoor activity that I never get bored off and would help me get me back in shape.

My Dad feels that I should get a membership because the gymkhana is evolving, slowly but it is evolving. I remember as a kid, I had asked dad about the swimming pool, as to when would it be there at the gymkhana, to which he had wisely replied ” When you would have kids”! Damn.

I got time till march to think if I am going in or not, In two minds (or dirty mind as Nimesh would say). Let me know what do you think about it, It might help me make up my mind.

Practical Presentation.

With Confidence, you have won before you have started.

The Title might seem to you like an intellectual subject about to be discussed but it is not so. It is just an account of my presentation that i made for my semester 3 practical exams which i found worthy of making a note of.

Also Its been 7 months (according to the word press stats) since I last published something on my blog. New year, New post and hopefully a more mature one than my posts published (and unpublished but still in drafts).

Statutory warning: My Grammar has gone for a toss, I make a lot of mistakes grammatically as well as spelling errors even though there is an auto-correct option given. Shut the website window while you still got time to do, a crappy reading material begins here!

So this story dates back to the first week of December 2016. We are asked to make a practical working project which is evaluated in the final year of masters degree. Either you can make two small projects for 1 semester each or one big project which is considered to be a long one.

We decided to go for one long project shared by 2 other classmates of mine apart from me. Being a student of Mumbai university, we are expected to do things which we are not trained or motivated for. An invention or a sort of an extraordinary, out of the box thinking for a project which obviously no one does. What we do is simply look up for one on the internet, try for a ready made project from the seniors which they do not share for free, Or take  professional help from those who make such projects for a fee.

We got a project that was presented by a student around two years ago, Only the project idea and not the ready made model off course. We decided to work on it, but since it was a long project, we were only supposed to make a presentation on it and the demonstration was supposed to be given in the next semester exams.

My group for the project consisted of 3 people, Priyanka Sharma, Kusum Chaudhary and myself Anooj Prabhu. The Initial idea was to take help from a professional, pay him rupees 2500 each for just the guidance, we had to shell out extra money for the parts required. I wasnt happy with this idea since we got a lot of jobless engineers around who happen to be my friends as well and me being a miser, i didnt want to give some one that kind of money just for guidance, in the age of Internet!

Kusum fetched the soft copy of an already submitted project, we made the outline for it which is nothing but the project summary on one page and has to be submitted to the head of department for her approval. The project got its approval as a long project after a heated debate with the assistants of the Head.

The head of department has no idea or interest with the same and passes these responsibilities to her assistants who were her students till last year and now are working as teachers in the department.

The presentation part also required acquiring the materials and the parts required for making the working model. We had to show those parts to the examiner just to let him know that we are working on something. So there we went, shopping!

Process 1: Shopping for materials

We decided to hit the electronics market in the second week of December 2016 to acquire the materials we need to make our working model of ‘The Mobile Controlled Robot’ .

The electronics mart where you get all the building materials for electronics is located on the Lamington road which is also known as the mecca for electronics. You want cheap electronics, you get it here. You want a personal computer assembled at a competitive price, this is the place you want to come. These things I have heard from many people, but my observation after visiting this place, ITS ALL JUST A FOLKLORE!

You do not need to waste your time by visiting this place because of the online shopping portals that are here now, you would get almost anything at a really competitive price and you meed not waste your time and energy looking for stuff in the real market. (Trust me I have done it already).

Anyways, why we are still here? at the Lamington road? even though everything is available online? good question! There are a few drawbacks of the online market, I will list them down for you:

  1. Time : You can go to a shop and buy something right away subject to you being able to make a choice for it which can be a difficult task. Online shopping demands delivery time, anything between 2-4 days on normal days and 7-8 on festive seasons. We could not afford losing time since we had our presentation in less than 3 days.
  2. Availability: What we were looking for was not really available on the online shopping portal. Who buys resistors and jumper cables or a microcontroller everyday? Actually it was available, but not all of it and not at the earliest..
  3. Advice : Online portals do not give you advice or have an expertise to suggest you what to buy and what not to. Yes, there is a list of suggested items that pop up on your screen but thats just based on your recent search, purely based on an algorithm and devoid of any human judgement. Any Human is any day better than a robot intellectually. You might think thats utter nonsense but its actually a food for though. A robot is programmed by one or more humans, and by comparing a human with this robot is like you comparing one human’s intellectual to all those humans who made up that robot. Let me know what do you think about it in the comments section. Since we do not make a robot everyday, we needed some advice as to what parts would we require.

Anyways we went to this famous shop which sold materials for projects and practicals. It was swarmed by students from third year of their graduation to those pursuing PhD’s as well as lab assistants from colleges.

We had a list of materials from the project soft copy that we had. According to that we were purchasing what we required. The sales person understood that we knew almost nothing but we had the purchasing power. He tried to rip us off but people fail to understand that there is a vast difference between knowledge and common sense. For eg He tried to sell us 4 Dc motors for the wheels of the robot, but two are enough if the robot is not going to carry heavy load and ours wasnt being designed to carry heavy load. Also 4 motors meant a lot of electric power/ batteries and we didnt want to spend on batteries. There are small such things that were happening but we managed to purchase less than what was required since it was supposed to be displayed, not built into a model.

The shopping took us around 45 minutes, but the intent to shop consumed half the day. We had attended a few lectures, then left for grant road. Now Virar-Grant road is like a 1 hour  train journey one  way. Kusum was absent and was to join us directly at grant road, so Priyanka and me decided to hang out at this iconic Merwans restaurant. It is the first Merwan in Mumbai, really very old and is still run by Parsis and I had never been here.

After the purchases, me being with two women, it was but obvious for them to get distracted to the road side stalls selling bed sheets and clothes. I was with them for 10-15 minutes but looking at their disinterest to leave the place, I simply abandoned them and boarded the train. You might quite find it an act uncalled for, but I hate shopping for my own-self …

Process 2: Internal Presentation.

After shopping for materials, we had to give a presentation of the project to the Head of the department and her assistant teachers. She would recommend additional changes as well as approve the project at the same time. Also bombarding with the questions which the external examiner might ask was a routine during the presentation.

Now since We had our written board exams going on during the slot allocated for the internal presentation (Our department has no clue about the term ‘Proper scheduling’), Internal presentations was a mess for most of us…but not me (thats a different story, read on to know more.)

Kusum being the most paranoid amongst us managed to give the presentation in between the board exams, The HoD wasnt impressed but she was supportive. She was preparing us for the storm a.k.a external examiner who had wrecked one a year ago and destroyed the morale of our seniors and teaching/ non teaching staff alike. He was the horror in the minds of all to an extent that the first year students ( that was us at that time) were made to practice how to give a presentation.

Anyways, Kusum was given inputs for us to work one, make changes in the powerpoint that she had made all by herself and that was that for her.

Priyanka and I were against the incorrect scheduling of the presentation dates which were conflicting with the board exams dates so we decided to give the presentation a miss until the department is forced to come up with a special date for us. Out of the batch of 20, We along with 3 others were a rebellion!

The department was forced to set up a special date post exams for us, I must say they really cared for us and that they also understood they were wrong in scheduling the dates.

On this day, since we were late in giving the presentation, it was the right as well as the duty of the HoD to scream at us, scold us for not giving the presentation on time. Priyanka and the rest who were slotted for the day were thoroughly scolded for being late. Also HoD is a very bad vibe for priyanka, they dont get along very well so she was the one to get badly scolded.

I reached the class after all the drama had happened, but i knew that HoD wanted some notes of mine of her subject that we had acquired from a senior. Priyanka had those same notes but she used to give a miss to the lectures in 3rd semester and HoD has seen the notes in my hand and found them to be better than hers. She wanted them and kept asking Priyanka to ask me to get those notes.

Priyanka on the other hand could have used the opportunity to enter in the good books of the HoD, but she didnt do it, instead she told me to get those for her. Thankyou Priyanka for letting me do this and saving me from getting blacklisted by the department. I was running low on the attendance as well but those notes kindoff save me from both, attendance issues as well as the scolding i was to get on the internal presentation day.

Arriving late to the class on the day of internal presentation, I walked straight in to the HoD’s cabin with the notes she required and gave it to her. That all it required to save me from a bad day! No scolding, only gratitude expressed from her(HoD).

Now the powerpoint presentation was made by Priyanka, I had a look but didnt study it thoroughly, I was just feeling lucky that I might get through it. That is my bad habit, always pushing and trying my luck.

Priyanka went in for the presentation first and she made some terrible mistakes which i would like to call terrible sins (for the dramatic effect) which no one would do while giving a presentation. She had never given a presentation before and she was very nervous for the fact that it was her first one in front of a handful of people.Instead of facing the people, she faced the screen, stood behind the HoD’s seat and was constantly reading the slides.

HoD was disappointed, who wouldnt for such a shabby presentation, but she didnt say much to Priyanka, maybe she was bored and tired both of yelling at us (or them). She kept saying that Priyanka needs to work on her knowledge and presentation skills both at the same time.

I went in after her, She had made notes for her presentation but she simply kept staring at the wall where the slides were being displayed. I used her notes, held in my hand and facing the audience while the slides behind me. All I could remember was my sales training that my father forced me to undergo while working with him. He said that “work life is nothing but Sales, which begins at the moment you draft your resume which is a catalog of you, It is your specifications sheet and that you are trying to sell yourself to your prospect employer. “

I think everyone should undergo sales training. My presentation was fantastic even though I had very little knowledge about my slides, its content. I was presenting an extempore at every slide being presented to me which was good because you do not need to mug up anything and play it like a cd player. Everything comes to you from your intellect and that would anyday be better than mugged up stuff.

I was bombarded with questions, again I did not know that answers to all, maybe not even one but that didnt stop me from attempting those questions. It was my project after all, and I would have more insight of what is happening than the assistant teachers who have gone through so many of the projects with limited knowledge about which stuff works how. They did correct me to some of the basic functioning of the system where i got it wrong but they were impressed in the end and i heard murmurs saying ‘Yeah, it was good’.

After me, 2 others gave the presentation. Third one remained absent for the practical examination as well. One wasnt having enough knowledge about his work and didnt sound convincing enough. Other who was also his project  partner managed to scratch his entire body while presenting. Assistant teachers recorded his video on their phones and kept giggling about it, I was seated behind the teachers so I could see and not stop smiling. It is indeed fun to watch your success and other’s debacle (not sure if this sounds right grammatically!). Human tendency, cant help!

Process 3: D-day begins.

Now the practical examinations started from 13th dec 2016, Kusum amongst our team was the first one up for it. In the practical examinations, each one had exam on 2 days. One one day you would have to do the practical based on C++ programming, microcontroller 8085,8051 etc. I am not sure of all the practicals since i never did any in the college. On the second day we were supposed to give a presentation for the project.

Before Kusum could go for her presentation on the first day, we create a whatsapp group so that I can detail Priyanka and her about the project. They asked questions, I kept on answering them and covered almost all the points to the best of my knowledge.

Mobile controlled Robot: Our project was based on the microcontroller which can be used to powering and controlling a set of wheels wireless with the help of a cellphone or a sim card. It can be used to clean the house provided a mini vacuum cleaner is mounted on it, or as a gas sensor in the industrial areas or as a fork lifter.

Sounds easy right? Its not really that simple, Since we are physics post graduation students, we are asked each and every aspect of its working and possible applications which we might have missed. Basically you are grilled for one hour, You are on a cricket pitch with just one wicket in your hand and no restrictions for the bowler, he can bowl anyhow.

Now Kusum did suggest the idea of the robot, she has the least interest in electronics or robots for that matter. She is a married and a working woman who is also pursuing her masters, I am not sure about her age and I never asked cause its bad manners.

She went with some idea, but she had no idea whatsoever about the external examiner Dr. Pawar and his ways. In last two semesters, we had an examiner who himself lacked basic knowledge  which even a 12th grade student would know. It was easy to fool a guy with less knowledge and get good marks put of him,

Dr. Pawar was a dark skinned person of little over a short stature near his 60’s who had dedicated his entire life to electronics. He had his hair grayed due to the numerous projects he has undertaken for the government and university. His knowledge cannot be matched by even the university, leave us out from the picture. He was dreaded by our physics department, and we were about to know why!

Kusum went in for her presentation and was asked a lot of technical questions like why would you require just 2 dc motors while you have 4 wheels on the robot? Or How would you set up a 220v vacuum cleaner on the robot which is itself being powered by 12 v batteries?

She got clean bowled, couldnt stand a chance in the exam. Dr. Pawar also told her if this was our project, he would not consider it as a long one, it would be considered as a short project and that we would have to make a new one for the final semester.

When I heard about Kusum’s debacle, I was really very angry, I could not believe she jeopardized  it all completely for us. Next up was Priyanka and I told her to try and make things better, if not atleast dont make it worse.

Before she was to give her presentation, HoD asked me if I had attached a circuit diagram for the project. I said that I didnt and that Kusum couldnt answer the external properly for the same. HoD asked me again If Priyanka was prepared for the exam to which i nodded positively.

Priyanka went in and wasnt seen for 2 hours. The guy named vivek who was sloted to present after priyanka was inside the presentation room and came out only to share bad news with me. He told me that she was grilled for not attaching the circuit diagram, examiner was very furious about it and that Priyanka broke down while presenting!

That was the last thing I wanted to hear, Priyanka only breaks down in situations which spin out of hand. I know her since the 2nd year of our graduation and electronics is kind of her Achilles heel. She broke down in the internal practical examinations of 2nd year because she knew nothing about electronics. Not that I knew about it all but you can always handle a situation where you dont know circuit connections with the help of others in a practical exam. People do it for board exams as well which are written and the seating is random, there is a barter system, a symbiotic association between the people who dont know each other in the examinations. We help out each other, talk to each other only for those 9-10 days nicely and then forget. These are our exam buddies!

Anyways, I was supposed to give my Presentation on the last day. On the second last day I had to do programming which i knew nothing about andd I was relaxed as well because I knew programs would be saved by those who were examined before me and all i had to know was the memory locations for as to where they were saved. Piece of cake!

On my presentation day I had to other girls who were slotted along with me. One was Kavita, woman with a Bsc.BeD degree and a kid. Other was prachi, who is also my examination buddy! Now Kavita was the first one to go in followed by me and then Prachi. Being a BeD degree holder, Kavita was well versed with presentations because all they do is keep presenting themselves over and over for 3 years. I have seen people mistaken her for a teaching staff many a times. BeD is basically learning how to teach. Even though she had limited knowledge about her project and she had mugged things up, she presented it better than her project partner and the examiner was impressed, which was unusual because all he did was cross question, deny and reject. It came to us as a surprise when we heard “The finest project I have seen here” coming straight from Dr. Pawar’s mouth. Kavita clearly nailed it with her viva voce!

I went in after her, I exchanged pleasantries and started off with the project. Dr. Pawar heard the introduction and asked me to skip a few things, because he had already seen it twice. He asked me questions that he didnt get answers for, I made things clear before he could repeat his question to me. For Eg. why did we have only 2 dc motors and 4 wheels, how would the other two run? To which I told him the concept of the car which has an engine powering just two wheels and the other two would be supported by dummy attachments. To which he replied, that Kusum and priyanka couldnt explain this to him.

Other questions were just like the one above, I explained what kind of vacuum cleaner would be used on our project. He was quite impressed since the vacuum cleaner would be made out of waste items and it was a good proposal. The circuit diagram for which he was scolding everyone in my team was presented to him and while doing so I even mentioned that I had got it from the internet, He was okay with it since i admitted it before he could question about it to me, I went on to explain the circuit diagram very well no questions asked. Again a surprise to me!

I had also done market research to tackle the question as to how our product is better than others who currently have theirs in the market. There was this shopclues page screen shot added by me in the presentation stating rupees 8,000 for the same model with limited capabilities as compared to ours. That was one heck of an eye catcher for Dr. Pawar. Another one was the Project estimate that I had included in the slides. He argued about it saying that i am not going to be reimbursed for the same and that i need not put the cost estimate. To this I tackled very smoothly pointing out the fact that while Kavita was making the presentation, you told her to see him as a distributor for her product and that she needs to sell it efficiently to him.

This is why you pay attention while others are making their presentation and pick up the points on real time basis. After a while it was a fun conversation while we speaking about the latest revolutions happening in Indian technology like the Reliance Jio (I will cover that topic on a good day!). Dr. Pawar was really Impressed with my presentation, He gave in tips like a digital battery meter and a motion sensor which I promised to work on.

That was it! I saved our project from being considered as a short one! Dr. Pawar asked me If there was no communication between me and my team regarding the project to which i made an unwanted comment. I told him that how much ever I try to explain stuff to my team, they being in masters of electronics should have an aptitude and an open mind to think out of the books and being able to grasp things. He agreed to the same and said that there was a vast difference between our presentation from bad to average to very good!

After my presentation, It was prachi’s turn and she had mugged it all up. But just because The first two presentations went really well, Prachi was pardoned! We saved her in other words!

After the session was over, I felt like throwing my arms up in the air and shouting ‘Yes, WE DID IT”! Kavita was also really very happy and we never spoke much before or after that day.

Priyanka was there when I exited  the presentation room. The first question she asked me was, “Did sir get too angry on you?” to which i replied “Ours was one of the 2 best presentations in the entire lot!” She smiled and then inquired with prachi about the events in detail.

Things that went well for me :

  1. Examiner was bored of visiting us for 4 days, My presentation being on the last day, he cared less about it while I was aggressively confident at the same time.
  2. I learnt from the mistakes others had made and worked on them.
  3. Without my team and my classmates, this wasnt possible since I studied their encounters with Dr.Pawar and prepared accordingly.
  4. Personality ,appearance, and dialogue delivery. (My story, Me Hero :p)

After the presentation, Kusum asked me how it went for me and I told her everything,to which she responded that she knew that i would nail it and that she couldnt explain it well.

Real challenge begins now when I have too make the working model for the same. I’ll keep you posted for the same.

Thanks for your time, I hope I keep scribbling something or the other atleast this year, 2017!

(All my resolutions have already gone for the toss!)

Till next time  or comments whichever earlier!

SHOWERS on TiMe……….!!!

Some people feel the rain, others just get wet!

-Google search :p

Well,howdy people…

(Thats the only line that I had drafted 5 years ago! Yes, I am writing this once since past 5 years and now I feel somethings in my writing style outdated like alternate capital letters in the title but I let it remain as it is since that was done by a younger and a lighter me :D).

Back to the topic. Showers on Time. At they really on time? I beg to disagree.

The weather forecasts told us that monsoon winds would approach Mumbai on 1st of June, which were later postponed to 7-8th of June.  It did rain on 8th of June but not enough even to wash the dust from the roads. They just worsened the situation by releasing the heat absorbed by the environment making it all the more hot. No matter how well we advance in the fields of science and technology, Nature keeps telling us that we cannot predict her mood no matter what! thats why we address nature using feminine words.

It did finally rain on 19th June, But only in the southern part of Mumbai.(Lucky SoBos, always getting the best things first).  But these rains just ended up creating more issues for the ‘middle class’ living in the suburbs, who commute by trains and work for the SoBos. Utter sadness.

Now we all know the reason for this delay, we call it ‘Global Warming’ in short. Our Constant desire to pollute the environment has disturbed the watercycle and other processes deeply. Earlier we used to have rains in the June, Followed by the winter in Mid-October which lasted till January and then a Bright shining Sun from February till may end.

Now what do we have? A chilled January. Rains in February. Heat, a lot of it till July. A bit of Rains till august. Again a lot of heat with occasional Rains till October followed by heat again. Rains in November again and a neutral climate in the December.

Why do we call it the Global Warming in the first place? We should call it Global Heating or ‘Microwaving Earth‘ or something on these lines. 420/Cars per kilometre in Mumbai? I think its better to Smoke cigarettes and die instead of inhaling the fumes of vehicles and dying out of some stupid cancer.

Global warming even on Domestic levels is real bad. You have your Tv, Phone Laptops, Refrigerator WiFi routers, running almost all the time and the amount of heat generated in the house cannot be cooled by an air conditioner even at an optimum level. In my area, a monkey who could not near the heat jumped and cooled himself off in a

Rains. How Important are they to me?

Firstly the onset of rains releases a wet muddy smell from the ground which is more than refreshing and touches the deepest nerves in your brains. We all love that smell, dont we?

Then is the cool wet breeze when it rains, an attempt of the clouds to cover as much area as possible. They are just in distributing the rain to all, sometimes forcefully as well! Have you tried to remain dry and still go out in the rains for that matter? I am sure you must have! No matter how hard you try to protect yourself ( Raincoat, umbrella, etc) you will still get wet. That is the beauty of rain.

At the beginning, you might find your vehicles getting dirtier as the dust from the trees and the buildings is washed down on your vehicles, but as the rains ascend, your vehicles also take part in the Celebrations of the Nature. Creations of puddles, wet mud, children happily playing football in the rains or just having fun, Animals having a pleased expressions on their faces especially the stray dogs who have survived the heat on the melting roads, Wet and swaying trees which come to life, as if the rains whisper back their souls into them.

All this makes me happy, these maybe the small things but I treasure them for the fear of losing their sight in the coming few years. We might be able to artificially seed in the clouds and make rain happen but since its quite expensive, that will also go only to the rich, sadly.

On the contrary, I dont like getting wet in the rains because I have tried keeping my self dry but always failed.  On the brighter side, I used to go for hiking on the mountains in the rains to get the glimpse of the nature’s celebration, and I tell you, Its a must watch! The lush green forest with each and every tree in it swaying at a rhythm, the animals singing to a tune matching this rhythm with the streams giving it an auto-tune far better than any human can give to a song. What makes this nature’s song complete is the occasional light and sound show by the thundering skies. Its so beautiful that my mere words cannot describe it completely. All your six senses are immersed in this celebrations absorbing each and every tiny detail.

Sometimes I do feel adventurous riding a bike in the rains at a good speed, but then Its just a risk worth not taking over and again. A drive in the car is preferred though and much pleasing, or just sitting by your window munching on hot pakoras and hot tea looking over the world below in the rain, I can do it all day provided it rains all day. Oh yes, and then there is whiskey which makes you forget everything else :p

I am sure you miss the rains as much as myself, I’d request you to join me in my prayers to the higher energies above us so that it rains, and it rains soon and a lot as well. I believe that clouds would bring us rains only if we really want them. We, the people in Mumbai dont want so since it disrupts or disturbs their day to day life in some or the other sort. This is so selfish of us, isnt it?

You can say I am ‘Stitious‘, not superstitious though :p

Sometimes you Win, Sometimes lose.

But sometimes, it just Rains!

The Interesting Part (Blitzzz!!)

Congratulations folks for taking the clan at Level ! This post is the continuation for the earlier one and is quite long. Its best viewed on a pc or a laptop.

I would also like to apologize for 2 months delay as I was caught up between two exams.

Hope you enjoy this post.

After 100 war wins, it was time for us to look for a feeder clan. A feeder clan trains the low level townhall players. Once these players are ready for high level wars, players are transferred from feeder to the parent clan.

I was keen to get a feeder clan but going through all the troubles of a new clan was pretty bothersome. I wanted a dead clan with enough stats on their homepage to lure in new players. Well,We found one!

MDworld. A clan made by a secondary school teacher who also taught in private tutions. Ravi and Primus were a part of this clan while in Blitzzz and after. To run his clan, Maverick Maddy(MD) used to threaten his students with the homeworks, punishments and test scores.

Anything which has been started on the grounds of threat and oppression never lasts, same thing happened with MD. Clan worked well during the academic year when his students used to attend the class, once the portion got over, the threat was over and players began to leave.

Blitzzz sent their core team,Skuller, Moriarty, Me( DxA) joined the clan. MD made me the leader, We got 12 war wins for a dead clan, MDworld was live again. We had taken over a Clan.
When MD saw this, he thought that the clan is now running again and that he can handle it by himself.

He asked for the leadership again, I gave it to him and we all quit. His clan fell dead again, he kept calling me back, apologized for his deed, offered me leadership again but There was no looking back.

When we came back, Blitzzz had gone off track, GodsOfWar played occasionally, there was a need for players. DON stepped down and made me the leader since he was busy with his college.

Recently MD had joined our clan with the intention to save his clan. He messaged me personally saying that I was right, right about the fact that his clan would end in March, the time when academic year ends.

He thought by doing this , we would take over, send our players there and his work would be done again but he was wrong. Instead he was showed the door politely, our players also abused him for playing so poorly, a highly rushed th9 with troops of th7. A hopeless player.

After returning from MDworld, sumit dada fell silent, he lost his phone, his account taken over by his building friends who made a Clan named arihant.

1.Friends India

a Clan made after breaking BLITZZZ. I must say they did well, crossed a 100 wins very quickly, they recruited international players like Evan who played like GodsOfWar or maybe better than him now.

Horror devil who started the clan had to step down because the clan was filled with Hacking clash’s friends. Suyog was the leader but majority supported Hacking. He is a good player but with skills follow ego. Clan success filled him with pride, he started making mockery of the clan elders Suyog and Horror devil. Horror devil could not attack once due to his business and was kicked by Hacking Clash!
Imagine you starting something, others following you and you are the one who gets kicked in course of time. It’s a very bad feeling. Similar to Steve jobs getting kicked from Apple, which he started.

Blitzzz welcomed Horror devil warmly. Suyog and Sameer followed but Sameer went back due to the war breaks.

Sameer although gave the reason that Hacking Clash forcefully made him quit and join his clan which I find baseless.

As for Ravi who caused all the trouble, he started his building clan named C.H.A.O.S. primus joined, they had multiple accounts. Still the clan struggles to survive. There was no point in the existence of friends India if this had to happen. Everyone regrets this now.

Current Status: Friends India is now run by Hacking clash and his friends, They are good at the game but they have a lot of built up ego along with them which is not good.

2.MD World

Its not a real competitor to the clan, but to me. Maverick Maddy always wanted to be ME in the game. His war stars matches with mine. His Townhall level matches mine. His clan running style matches ours. How? That’s a completely different story.

Maverick Maddy never understood the basics of the game well, all he wanted to do is Boss over a couple of players who are his students. I might have mentioned earlier how he used to threaten his students if they didn’t join his clan, Award them less marks in test, treat them badly in his coaching class etc etc.

To match my war starts, Maverick maddy who used to be ranked in top 3 for the war would end up attacking the lowest most bases in the wars to get more war stars. Brilliant Strategy I must say for selfish gains though. When he was there in our clan for a couple of wars, we saw him doing that.

Townhall level matches mine because of obvious reasons : Competition. When I went from TH8 to TH9, He too did the same, although his base is not even TH7 maxed. Now we all know what harm can a rusher do in the wars.Screenshot_20160609-144941

When Blitzz Core Visited MD world for 10 wars, He learnt things from us, how to run a clan, how to use the clan mail, Motivate/Teach other players and stuff…

Even the #HMDW which stands for Hail MD World was coined by us for them on the grounds of #HB Hail Blitzzz.

No creativity I must say.

3. Tirash Rash

Tirash Rash is where Don, Skuller and Monit started from. They learnt the game from there and once I joined the game, We started a new clan.

The basic reason why we consider this clan as a competitor is very natural, Child has to be better than the parent, Darwin’s law of evolution! This also means that one day Friends India would be better than us. We have to be ready for it or make sure that we always have the lead.

We are real close to get past Tirash Rash.

That’s us. Buckle up People!!

The Hilarous:

1.Nikhil Mehta

Player named Nikhil Mehta tops this list. He was some guy claimed to be from United States. He played quite well and was highly active so we promoted him to Co-Leader of the clan. Although he had a low level townhall.

Once he was a Co-Leader, his pride grew by leaps and bounds. He started fighting with the Members of the clan, Kicked a few and ultimately we kicked him.

He was long forgotten untill we rolled out our Clan Email, ‘’.

We added this email address in our clan Info since our clan is always closed. If a player is looking to join us, one needs to send us an email, we check the profile of the player, send him all the rules to which he has to agree and only then we allow the player in the clan.
If you have not tried emailing to clan, you should give it a try once, we have set up a swanky responder which acknowledges the receipt of your email to us in a quite professional manner.

Coming back to Nikhil Mehta, he used to keep a track of the clan progress
Once he got our email, he started sending messages which are quite hilarious. He kept spamming us for sometime, asking questions like why some players left and stuff. I was fed up of his emails, so had to reply him pretty rudely which you might find funny. Here are the screenshots of the conversation :Screenshot_20160609-155649Screenshot_20160609-155910Screenshot_20160609-160027Screenshot_20160609-160103Screenshot_20160609-160128Screenshot_20160609-160156Screenshot_20160609-160347Screenshot_20160609-160411Screenshot_20160609-160454Screenshot_20160609-160459Screenshot_20160609-160634

2. Veer.

Veer was another nut who came into the clan via his friends ( I am still confused who his friends are or who knows him). All I know is he is a friend of Nabhya, is in class 10 with a lot of issues, Smokes Goldflake with Nabhya again and…well, see the screen shots for judge him by yourself :p

Now If you  read the screen shots carefully, you would realize that this nut sounds quite suicidal. Monit and I were worried for the same, I was already in some deep trouble, didn’t want another one to add on.

So we let him in the clan but we used to rag him a lot, especially Majin and Eminem. He used to get angry and we used to get entertained.

Everything that we did and everything written under this line had a purpose, please do not misjudge or hate us after reading this!

It was important for us to secure the Wars. When we  started the clan, we used to recruit from global chat. Now the Players used to abandon the clan Midway in wars and this affected our war wins.

The Core players decided that each one of these core players would have 2 accounts each which was accepted unanimously.

This made sure that we have a minimum of 10 ready players at any given point of time to start and win a war, we wanted to be independent of strangers then.

Skuller made an account named skuller2 just before he quit the game.

Monit acquired Mithun once Mithun quit the game, Players didn’t know that Mithun was Monit in the game. Mithun was used for donations and a few wars.

Moriarty was none other than DON himself, Moriarty is a TH8 townhall now and has done a remarkable work at the lower end. Moriarty is solely controlled by DON.

One of our friends ‘Parth’ kept  telling us that he is also in the  game with an account named ‘Moriarty’ and that he is on an extremely high level. DON took this opportunity up and started the account named Moriarty.

Monit was smart enough to figure out that its DON who  is running Moriarty under parth’s name, Although DON fooled for quite sometime. I kept believing that its parth.

Majin Vegeta was started by me when DON started Moriarty. Although Majin was a shared account since it was created on the Clan email. It was mostly run by me.

All the trouble, abuses that Majin Vegeta used to shower on his players was for a reason. As DxA, I couldn’t have shown the Players their true places or made them sit in their respective seats who tried flying and fluttering around. Eg. Veer, he was a major reason why I had to come up with Majin Vegeta. Veer had an ego and didn’t respect other players most of the time. With Majin, it became a lot easier to shut him down. there were times when Veer wanted Majin to be kicked out but the clan unanimously stood by Majin, Thanks for the support guys.

The truth about Majin was known by Don, Monit, Skuller and vikipi. Now you also know this open secret.

Also we used, Majin, Moriarty, skuller 2 in MD world for support, Keeping two accounts also helps us to keep an eye on two clans at a time.

Majin was used to learn how other clans were run. We sent Majin as blitzzz in an American clan named ‘the #1’. This clan is a family clan with the leader, a 40 year old gamer, his mother, girlfriend, kids, aunts everyone in the same clan.

They purchase gems weekly like we purchase groceries, they have great troops and bases but fail to convert war wins.WhatsApp-Image-20160609

We used Majin as a space pod learning different clans and also to donate to us quickly when no one else is online especially in the middle of the nights.

Final Statement

After a run of 2 years, we have learnt a lot of things from this game, made a lot of good friends and had an awesome time.

We also had players who just passed out from their 10th standards and they have done remarkably well as they have done in the game. Jeet, Sanyam, Dhir… good job guys. You have once again proved that gamers can successfully chase any challenge.

As the game got new updates, It became more and more uninteresting. It has reached the saturation level of  itself and we need to move on to something else now.

I am myself finding it very difficult to keep playing it now, thus the torch of this clan is being slowly passed to others.

If you are reading this and if you are a part of this clan, prove yourself worthy enough to lead the clan, and you shall be rewarded.

Signing off for now,

Keep clashing

Hail Blitzzz
